This offers two options:
Percentage of the Budget
Depending on the project, this option is open to negotiation and can usually span between 5 to 10 percent of the overall budget. This would include a full score with an option for one original song.
Hourly Rate
This option is for projects that have had last-minute changes or require high-speed turnaround. Depending on the project, the hourly rate for film composition begins at R4500.TELEVISION
Commercials
Standard commercials and PSAs (30 - 120 seconds) will be charged according to the following factors:- The client's budget
- Flight time (once off advert? 12-month campaign?)
- Amount of channels/networks it will be broadcast
Depending on these factors, there are three options:
Broadcast Royalties
Payment for each time the commercial is aired (Requires tracking sheets that tell me when and where the music was played, to be invoiced accordingly)
Once-off
A carefully calculated lump sum that will give the client all rights to the music to use whenever they wish.A Flat Rate per Minute
The flat rate of music written for Television Commercials starts at R5000 per minute (and up to one minute)
Entertainment & Informational
Series, Game Shows, Soapies, News, Documentaries, Reality TV, etc will be charged along the same factors as Commercials.Broadcast Royalties
Payment for each time the show is aired (Requires tracking sheets that tell me when and where the music was played, to be invoiced accordingly)
Once-off
A carefully calculated lump sum that will give the client all rights to the music to use whenever they wish.

RADIO
Jingles, Commercials and Informative Broadcasting Music will factor in the following:- The client's budget
- Flight time (once off advert? 12-month campaign?)
- Amount of channels/networks it will be broadcast

for each time the commercial is aired (Requires tracking sheets that tells me when and where the music was played, to be invoiced accordingly)

A Flat Rate per Minute
The flat rate of music written for radio starts at R4500 per minute (and up to one minute)
GAMING
The following will be factored for the billing of composing Game Music:
- The client's budget
- Gaming platform (Web? Console? Mobile? PC?)
- Distribution of said game (In-house game for schools? Globally published?)
Percentage of the budget
A negotiable 5 - 10 percent of the overall budget will get you a full musical score for your game.
Hourly Rate
Depending on the project, the hourly rate for composing gaming music begins at R3550.
THEATER
The following will be factored for the billing of composing Theater Music:- The client's budget
- Genre (Composing for ballet is a lot different than, say, pantomime)
- Number of performances (One night only? 6-month run?)
Performance Royalties
Requires tracking sheets that tell me when and where each performance took place, to be invoiced accordingly.
